The paper is part of the research aimed at determining if vortex flow pancake (VFP) hybrid rocket engine feasible as green in-space chemical propulsion. objective this study to test an N2O/HDPE VFP ignited with N2O/C3H8 torch igniter. N2O used in self-pressurizing mode, which results two-phase and varying inlet conditions, thus better simulating real behavior. begins characterizing igniter, followed by hot-fire ignition tests VFP. allow for improved design igniter hybrid. axial regression rate ballistic coefficients are reported propellants configuration.
